Nutritional deficiencies, heavy metal toxicity and free-radical damage can be indicated and micro-organisms such as parasites, bacteria and fungal infections can be seen.

Thyroid Hormone Testing
Many people are told that their thyroid function test is normal, even though the actual thyroid output is inadequate. This is because very often only the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), which comes from the pituitary gland, is measured. The thyroid itself produces T4 (thyroxine), which is then converted to the active form, T3. It is better to measure all these hormones in order to get a better picture of thyroid function. Sometimes, antibodies against the thyroid should also be measured.

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
FCoping with a hyperactive child is a big task for both parents, siblings and teachers. We help to identify more specifically what all these factors are.

Genetic Testing
A sample of cells obtained from the inner lining of the mouth is tested in a laboratory for the presence of specific genes. If positive, these indicate an inherited tendency to develop conditions such as cardiovascular disease, inflammatory diseases or osteoporosis. Specific dietary and lifestyle changes will be recommended and nutritional supplementation and drug treatments can be initiated to modify or prevent the disease process.

Homocysteine Testing
Homocysteine is a highly toxic amino acid. Raised levels can cause illnesses such as cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer's Disease. In order to have this tested accurately, patients have to either attend a laboratory or send plasma directly to a laboratory. The plasma needs to be separated from the blood cells immediately after the blood is drawn, otherwise the readings are false. At Eagle Clinic we have the facilities to separate plasma immediately.
